In my eternal quest to get more power out of my 95 300 2x4 I have so far done the following mods to it.Fresh .010 over polaris piston, widened and polished ex. port, cleaned up intake and transfer ports, shaved .035 off head, modded airbox, 34mm carb off 99 400 scrambler, UFO installed in the carb, White clutch spring.I must say that anyone that says a bigger carb will decrease low end should take my little 300 for a drive!!! The last mod I just did was to add the carb. and a UFO in it the other night. The throttle response and acceleration is unbelieveable now!!!I would guess that off the line it will stay with a stock 400 now but I know they have more top end. Anyway I am going to install an EGT guage to dial the jetting right on the line to get the maximum effect from the bigger carb and UFO.I think I anm a little bit rich now.I need to know what temp. readings I should shoot for. I know the at WOT. the temp. shouldn,t be any higher than 1250 but what should it be at 1/4 throttle cruising and 1/2 cruise and 3/4 cruise? If anyone knows what these # should be please respond.
