Default Polaris 500 Jetting

Hello
My son in law just picked up a 2004 (2006 engine) Predator and brought it by the house. We took out for a quick ride and found it stuttering at mid-range.
Of course, the first thing we are going to do is clean the K&N, pull the carb and clean it. When we do, I just wanted to know if the jetting we see is in the ball park. Depending on how bad the main is, cleaning just might cure this.

My questions for you are;

Given the open K&N, the FMF pipe, what would you EXPECT to see with the pilot and main jet, needle position and how many turns out with that jet?

I was also wondering if the crunching of the K&N by the seat is normal. Or is there another way to set this up? This is also compromising the Outerwear with tears.

The other thing we have to deal with is setting up the reverse cable and light. The 06 motor has reverse but the 04 bike did not come with reverse.
Where would be the best place to get this?

Yes, the front wheels were on backwards.. That was corrected after the pics were taken..

One nasty looking filter!! Even if it had an outerwear someone hasn't maintained this filter at all looks like. Riding in sand dunes would be the last place I'd have a a K&N even though many would disagree.Think I'd get a new filter. Either a stock one or an Uni or if you get a K&N it needs to be cleaned and oiled regularly.A cheap manual can help on many things from jetting to any service needed. Worth the 5 bucks if you plan on doing your own work.2004 Polaris Predator 500 Service Manual PDF Download
