It will start and idle fine. When I give it throttle the first time it revs like it's suppose to but after that it falls on it's face. Can anyone help me?

I have pulled the carb and cleaned it up. It has new gas in it and I don't have the air box on it. I think it's flooding itself out. It will spit gas out the carb where the air intake goes

First off they don't run good with the air box off. Might be time to check the valve clearance even though most of the time they're pretty close. .006 intake and exhaust. If this doesn't help then may need a carb kit, or at least a new needle and seat.Just cleaning carbs doesn't always solve problems if parts are worn.

I put a jet kit in it today with a new needle.. So what's next? Should I get a rebuild kit for the carb?

I'd definitely get a carb kit. Plus always check the spark plug color after you install a different needle and jets from kits like Dyno Jet,etc. Plug needs to be light to medium tan color. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SHINDY-CARB-CARBURETOR-REPAIR-KIT-POLARIS-06-07-SPORTSMAN-450-03-414-/291076927228?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43c5896efc&vxp=mtr

Is it hard to rebuild the carb or self explanatory?

You have the BST34 Mikuni carb on the 450,much easier than the BST40. Several videos on this.Plus a cheap 5 buck manual can help with this and other repairs.2006 Polaris Sportsman 450 Service Manual PDF Download

Hey OPT,

He did not tear it down all the way in the video, will this usually be enough for a good through cleaning? Could carb cleaner be used instead of gas?
