Default Whats your top speed on a Sportsman H.O. 500?

I was a little surprised that I barely got my 2006 Sportsman 500 HO up to 50...I only had a bout 1/2 a mile and it seemed like it could have gone slightly faster yet, I was surprised. Only 800 miles on this, will a valve adjustment make a difference?

It will do better than 50 MPH.

Did you tune it up? Change the plug, air filter, and all the fluids? Run some Sea Foam fuel system cleaner through it.

the newer ones don't go as fast as the older onws. my 02' would hit 60,62 w/ the wife on it on long straights.

The last time I checked mine (08 500 HO) it would do 62 mph. That was on the speedometer not a GPS and that was in a little less than a quarter mile. It was fast to get to about 55 but builds a little slower after that. When I checked it I only had about 175 miles on it and I had just had the first service done. Where I ride mostly there is nowhere to get that kind of speed so I have not been able to check it after that, but It seems to have a little more pep to it after I got it fully broke in. I highly recommend the Sea Foam also. I use it in every 3rd full tank of fuel I put in. A good example of what it can do is that I have a 01 325 Magnum with approximately 8000 miles on it and have never had a fuel system problem, I have never changed a filter or anything fuel related since I got it in 02.

I had mine 07 out along side my buddys grizzly and my speedo said 55 with just a little throttle left my buddy's speedo said we were running 60 so I'd say 60-65 would be a good ballpark

I got my 08 Touring up to 55 today on a quarter mile strip of blacktop behind my house. It may go faster than that, but I get a little nervous going that fast and backed off. I'm not as daring as I used to be...
