Default How do you bypass foot brake interlock for high

I have a 02 Sportsman 700 and it is so annoying have to press really hard on the foot brake before putting it in High or Park. I read somewhere there is a spring that connects to the foot lever, has anyone bypassed this?

Thanks

I though Polaris makes there atvs so you just shift the gear leaver and nothing else, not only that but there atvs can start up in any gear as well.

The in line shift models (2004 and newer SP 500s, all 600s, 700s and 800s) Have a requirement to push foot brake to shift from Low to High and into Park. I had an 01 and 02 and they had the H pattern shifter without the Park feature ( a very handy feature).

I've never disabled one but all you would have to do is trace the spring coming from the rear brake up to the trans and remove the park lockout mechanism. Then plug the hole to keep debris out. Or take the spring out and use a wire to pull the pin out on the park lockout and tie it so the pin cannot go back in. Done

The 02 * 03 600 * 700 are in line shifting as well. I am surprised no one else has tried to modify this as I find it kind of annoying.

We have it on the ATP but not the X2. It is kind of annoying and I've thought about bypassing it.

Just a fyi..neither my 2008 800 or my 2009 850XP,both "inline" shift, had this "feature". The only time you have to apply the brakes is to start the engine in gear..

iv never heard or see that. my 2000 didnt have that. could start in any gear. my 08 500 you have to apply the hand brake to start in it high/low and reverse. ya its annoying. and iv never had an issue with my 00 flying forward while starting. but it better than it starting and flying into something while in gear.

they only has it a couple years where you actually had to put the foot brake on to shift gears. guessing, but i want to say 03 or 04 maybe 05' i know 02' or 06' didn't have it for sure. the newer ones you have to hold the brake if you want to start it in gear now or least on the 08'
