Default scrambler 400 2x4, cannot change gear.

Hi again everyone,

As they say, when it rain it pours, I got another issue with my scrambler... I can turn it on in gear with no problem, I can change from forward to reverse to neutral, but soon I put it in neutral I cannot change it to forward or reverse, I have to turn it off and change it then turn it back on. When it's in neutral and i try to shift forward or reverse, it grids.

Please help.

Thank you.

is your idle set too high causing it to grind, or maybe the shift linkage is not set right?

if you look at your carbrator there should be a big screw(most likely a phillips head) w/ a spring (it should be the biggest screw/spring)on the side of the carb that you can turn counter clockwise(turning out/loosening)slowly about 1/4 turn to slow the idle down. you should be able to listen to the engine when it slows down to know if it's working. do a little and try shifting until it works for you.
