Default 98' Polaris EBS backfire

I have a question for a 98' 500 Sportsman. The EBS I have heard is a given to backfire. But recently it seems to happen much more and louder than before. Maybe it's just me, but is there anything I can check for? Other than that the machine runs great.

Most times a backfire while decelerating is caused by a lean idle mixture or an exhaust leak. Also check the the carb boot between carb and head for leaks.
