You can adjust the idle speed at the throttle thumb handle also. I would do this, and then attempt to set the air mixture at the carb.

Thanks for the help. I went ahead and ordered a carb kit after messing and messing with it, it should be here tomorrow. Last night when I pulled the carb off to dissassemble to let it soak until I get my kit, the intake boot dissinigrated. I had looked at it when I had it off before, was very brittle but looked ok, so Im pretty sure this is my problem. I made a new intake setup, so hopefully I will get my kit tomorrow and be good to go.

Now all I need to do is figure out why the heck its pushing so much oil out the vent on the pump..

The shifting problem was due to the high idel, at one point in my messing around with the carb I did get it to idle down and it shifted right. So now my only problem is the oil.

Could that hose be for a return to tank???
Most injector systems have the capacity to pump more oil than is being consumed so it requires a return to tank pipe for the excess oil.

No it runs up to the frame and has a fitting where it snaps into the frame so no doubt its a vent.

Possibly a bad o ring or seal in the pump itself then.

The boot was probably leaking air which is why you can't get it to idle right. Changing the boot is a must. It might not have been the only problem, but definitely a problem.

If it was idleing high the clutch (secondary) was probably engaging causing the grinding sound when trying to change gears. If you can turn the machine off and change gear then start and have it run in that gear I bet money that is what is going on. Those older transitions, the secondary can't be turning when changing gears. If it is idleing high enough to turn the secondary then the "grinding" is heard.
