Default New Member with a new 400 Sportsman - Want to outfit it.

Looking to put better tires and skid plates on my new Sportsman 400. I've noticed that the ITP tires didn't come in the size recommended by the Polaris manual. I need 24x8-12 for the front and 24x11-12 in the back.

Also I'm having a hard time finding skid plates for this vehicle. What fits on the underbelly of the Polaris 400?

thanks

IMO, I'd go with 25" tires, you won't loose that much power, as long as you don't get Outlaws or SB's or something, but if your thinking a mud tire, I'd really check out the Maxxis Zilla's, they are very nice, and are a good AT tire, and are super light

So on the standard rims I can put the 25's on or do I need to get new rims also?

No, you could put 28"s on if you wanted, you'd need a lift, but you could, also, if you can't find the 8 and 11 widths, you would be fine going to 9 and 11 or 12

What year is your Sportsman 400? If it is the current model it can't take as big a tire as a regular fullsize Sportsman. If it is the pre-2008 it is a full size Sportsman. That would help others to help you out.

My guess is that you might be able to fit a 26" tire under there. I personally wouldn't go any bigger than a 25 with the smaller frame machine.

PM Stendori. His wife's 400HO has BIG boots. Under side of the 400 is pretty protected as is. May not need more.
