My local dealer is generally right with the internet as far as OEM parts go. Within a few cents to maybe a dollar of what I can get them online.
If they happen to have a used part you need, like a friend of mine recently needed a new jug and piston, he was really reasonable with his used parts. About what you would have paid buying off ebay or something.
My dealer is about 30-40% higher than the web on anything. But hey, its only a mile away for me and they got it on hand for stuff you need fast to get you back going. But most of the time its the web for me.
I just bought a C.V boot kit(boot, grease, two clamps) from the dealer here in Canada...$39.99 plus tax.
I see Royal Dis. has the replacement kit(boot, grease, two clamps) for only $19.99 plus tax.
(that's 100% differance)WOW...........
Did any riders from Canada use these replacement Boots from Royal yet?
If so how did they rate?
Thanks........Caper........

Sounds like most of your guy's dealers suck a#*. My local dealer a.k.a mom and pop shop, that also deals harleys will do everything they can to beat any internet price. And they're straight up with you about it. They will simply say, hey that's lower than I can go, get it on the web. That is a big plus with me and I'll keep going back to them everytime. Not to mention the service dept. is very resonable and will talk to you about the pricing. is'nt it funny how the little guy helps you out the best they can and the big guy's will just s#*t all over you and not even care. I think we need a few more little guys in the world, don't you?
I have been looking for a shop like that in my area. I wish I could find one, because they would always get my biz. I don't even go to the dealer anymore. My last project was replacing a rear CV boot and I pulled the axle, brought it to them, and with parts and labor they wanted $150!! The cherry on the cake though was when they told me it would take 2 weeks. I LOL'd at the guy and told him that I will buy all the parts and tools online and do it myself....and that's exactly what I did. Total cost: $21 for the boot from ebay including shipping. CV band boot pliers $25 from Napa. A brass punch from Harbor Freight $8. Grand total $54 + my time. Thanks to Stedori's sticky it literally took me less than an hour to change out the boot.
For a while locally the dealers were pretty close to internet prices, but recently I've noticed they jacked them back up 30%-40% and are charging shipping on some items. Guess they figured out that they make more money the old way so they went back to the pricey route.
I get pretty much everything off the web now.
I think ALL dealers will do WHATEVER it take to make a buck. have a friend who had a sled fixed he told them to stop at 500.00 and his bill was over a thousand for a 1992 580 polaris
