Howdy everyone ......just got back from NW Nevada from a 4 day desert trek with two other buddies. One has a 99 Sportsman 500 and the other has a 07 Sporstman 500 Deluxe. Great riding and our quads were flawless. My X2 was filled to the top with fuel and I drove until the motor quit.....122.7 miles. One tank full on the X2 is 6 US gallons. I did about 75% rolling flat roads, 15% hilly rocky terrain and 10% sand. A lot of low gear was used due to the terrain and the weight factor. The quad fully loaded with gear and me in the drivers seat is 1400 pounds, 1160 lbs and 240 lbs respectively. I used two different truck scales to check the weight and both read the same. My top speed was 53 mph.....and that was only for a minute and the only wide open throttle used. The average speed for the rolling flat roads was from 20 mph to 30 mph. Anyway, I thought this was good mileage due to the weight and other said factors......NoJoke

Great ride review with some real world info. to back it up. 20 seems to be my average in mixed riding.

Howdy all.....MickJP, the ride was 75 miles NNE of Gerlach, NV as the crow flies.. A little warm there at this time....108 degrees. The heat didn't bother the performance of the quads at all. TLC, the 99 SP500 was 20.78 mpg. My bud takes real good care of his 99 SP500 and it's just shy of 3000 miles on the odometer. Haven't heard any word for mileage on the 07 SP500 yet......NoJoke

The EFI really does improve gas mielage vs a carb.
I've noticed the difference between the X2 and the ATP which has a carb. It's about 2 mpg different in our driving. That and a 3 gallon tank on the ATP means we carry extra gas on any rides that might turn out more than 50 miles or so. I wish they all had the 6 gallon tank like the X2.
