05 700 polaris

I just bought this quad. It has 1600 km about 1000 miles I see the front drive axles are loose, the inner ones. Is this still possible with that few miles on it? I hear a ticking sound from the motor not sure where its from. Sounds a bit like the timing chain or maybe the vavles. Could it be the vavles need adjustment already? At idle the motor seems like its missing a bit. It does about 55 -60 miles an hour with ground grip tires. I've read forums and a lot of people are saying that they are a noisy motor to begin with, thanks for any help. Can you take the cover off these without taking the gas tank out?Does anyone know the cost of inner axles

front axles have a sloppy fit in the front dif? both of my 700s had that.
ticking noise could be an exhaust leak, the valves have hydraulic lifters so there is no need to adjust them.
the plastic skin is seperate from the gas tank

I was just out driving it and its still back firing sometimes when I let go of the throttle. Could the exhaust leak make it back fire? It seem still to be missing a little bit at idle. It has mudzilla tires would that make it wobble when I take off at 15 km/h than it goes away.
When its in park and I rev it up it seems like it has a vibration. We have another sportsman 500 and we don't have any of these problems with the 500, but its an 1996.

Ya with the mudzilla's you are going to have a wobble at low speeds because of the grips on those tires. If you want a strong recomendation get rid of those tires because they 1. heavy 2. you will break axles 3 hard on front end parts ex:steering tie rod ends, bushings. I would purchase a much lighter tire like a mud lite or something. As for the looseness how bad is it? and the tiking sound that you here are the valves and as above mentioned they are hydraulic and there is no timing chain on these twins, gear driven. Yes if you have an exhaust leak it could back fire a little or when letting off the fuel at high speeds it's just the remainder of the unburnt fuel igniting.

so what it the best way to find the exhaust leak.I think thats what it is,I can't find any cracks or breaks.I know on cars you could spray something and see if it goes quite.Once agian thats for any help

Agreed, the mudzilla's definately didn't help the axle's any, but as far as the back firing goes, is it EFI of Carb.?
