Default 02 sportsman 700 questions

I have been riding atv for 15 years but I just recently puchased an 02 700. Ihave owned Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki, and Arctic Cat, but I don't know that much about Polaris. Are there known problems with the 02 being first model year? The speedo doesnt work so that would be a first challenge but I assume it will be a wheel sensor issue. This machine has ~700 miles previous owner says he has put about 40 miles since the odometer stoped working at 660 miles and its all stock. Is there a good clutching spring combination for stock machine with stock tires for better acceleration and back shifting?

Thanks!

Don

I just bought one and have been happy with it so far. Has plenty of power. Am researching clutch kits and am stuck between Dirty Dawg or Dalton.

i have had good results w/ dalton. as far as clutching goes, willl may get better or faster take offs but really wont gain on top end as usually you gain somewear and loose eslewear inthe power or speed area like top end. my friend have an 02' first year and really hasnt had to many issues. imo.
