Whats the best way to prepare yourself for a flat tire?
Hello, I am new to ATVs and I was wondering what is the best way to prepare yourself for a flat tire? Im not sure what is the best way or methods to fix a flat? Should I carry a plug kit, and a can of ether to seal a bead? Or is it better to carry an innertube and if you get a flat to put the tube in and pump it with a small handpump? I dont know much about the CO2 inflators or how good the are, Any recommendations would be great. Thanks
My technique involves driving it back to the truck on the rim. Bring it home. Buy new tire and rim.
If I was inclined to bring some items I would bring a valve stem remover, liquid sealer and a 12 volt air compressor. I don't think you would want to try or ever be able to remove a tire from a rim on the trail. I have heard of people reseating a tire bead with gas and a match (pretty impressive) but dangerous.
Plug kit and Slime air compressor. Flats are part of riding in some areas, only takes minutes to plug and fill a flat. I have never broken the bead, these tires run pretty low pressure. If I did break a bead, which I don't see happening, I'd use my tow strap and stick or wrench around the tire to set the bead.

CO2 cartridges, adhesive, plug tool, and a plug. They work really good. If you're curious how good they work, let the air out of one of your tires and fill it back up with a cartridge (you can buy 5 packs of these). And, they will save you from throwing away a perfectly good tire and rim. Unless of course, money isn't an object to you, but for most people, it is.
I always carry a small air compressor. If you're on a budget you can get them quite for under 10 bucks. I also carry a patch kit with the tools, plugs and rubber cement along with a valve core tool and a couple of spare valves.
The whole thing fits in a small tank or fender bag and it weighs maybe a pound or two. It's cheap insurance.
I use a kit i bought from Wally world it includes: plugs, patches rubbercement, reamer and plug tool, co2 inflator and 2 cartridges, and a pouch to carry everything in. Cost $19.95.....cost of new tire and rim.. $180. to $200, and thats probably a low estiment.
