Question Gas Tank Size

OK I have a 2004 Polaris Sportsman 600 twin, I know I have about 11 klm once I run out of gas with the reserve but with no gauge to know how empty I am, Im wondering how many liters does my tank hold? I checked my owners book and it doesn't say. Would be nice to know so I can grab a gas can thats about the same size and strap it to the ATV when Im out riding all day.

Thanks

I think they are around 4.25-4.75 gallons (16L - 18L). I can get about 60 miles on a full tank, however this is not just cruising at 30-40 mph on gravel. I go about 15mph on trails in fields with ups and downs.

If you have the owners manual the fuel specs should be in the back of the book. Under "specs".

I just looked it up, and the capacity, and it is 4.75 gallons, or 17.98L according to the converter

Polaris has odd ideas on tank sizes.

,m not sure about other models but why are SP500's always having there gas tanks shrunk every year? Here some specs for examples.

A 96-03 SP500 has a 5.25 gal tank.
A 2004 SP500 has a 4.75 gal tank.
A 2006 SP500 H.O has a 4.25 gal tank.
A 2006 SP500 EFI has a 4.13 gal tank.

Even the entry level 2x4 300 Hawkeye has a 4.5 Gal tank while a top of the line 800EFI has a 4.13 gal tank!

The new XPs just returned the same 5.25 tank that polaris use to have in there first 1996 Sportsmans.
