what im saying is your right, you dont have to worry about the EFI issues, but you do have the EMC(same as the power dis. mod) that can go wrong. face it, we all live in the new electronic age unfortuneitly and we cant escape all this elec. crap.

I too wanted the carbed machine as I wanted to be able to rope start it in case of an emergency, BUT!! this danged ECM would have had Me dead on the ice had this happened while I was on the lake with 20 to 30 miles between where I would have been stranded and the marina.NOT!! a good situation.

Your saying I have a EMC and a PDM ? I have the Polaris Service Manual PN # 9921315 which has all the info including wiring diagrams and no where does it say I have anything but a PDM chapter 10 page 10.5 and no where does it say anything about a EMC only a ECU on the EFI machines .

My brothers 02 330 ATP had an ECM go bad, so when that happens, you're dead in the water because pull starting won't even work then.

For the pull starting to work there has to be a good battery charge..... otherwise, no go, how stupid!

this is what the polaris parts break down calls it. im assuming its the same thing w/ another name, but i could be wrong, the efi version has a differnt pn#(4012443) and yours is -pn# 4011568Control, Module. so maybe itsa diifernt name but i guessing it does roughly the same job, but im not expert thats for sure. lol

The guy working on the machine asked Me what I did to get water into the ECM.I told Him the only water that machine had seen was riding on Fort Peck lake on the ice after it had rained and snowed and no, the machine had never been submersed.I also told Him that if water had gotten into the ECM that it had better be a warranty item as there is no way that water or any other kind of moisture should have gotten into that box.
So now it is a time will tell situation.
FYI there has been three recalls on the ECMs and this is the third generation ECM,the big chromey looking one.
Well the dealer say`s that Polaris wo`nt stand behind the leaking module as it is past the 90 day warranty date.
I`ll be going back intothe dealer Monday and retrieve My bad module and take it apart to see where the moisture had gotten into it and then I`ll make sure the new one is sealed before it is installed and possibly prevent that from happening again.

i would want to know as well how they knew there is water in there like asked earlier, since it is a sealed unit. there would be no reason to take it apart to check. imo

When the mechanic noticed there was corrosion on the terminals He then took the box off of the machine and water came pouring out of the ECM when He turned it upside down.
