Rear Winch idea
Okay, I've been a creeper on the website for awhile and you all have offered very good advice. I want to add a rear winch to my Sportsman, I want to be able to take it on and off when I need. I already have the Polaris front winch on my ATV so I'm not going to waste taking it off and getting the Warn multi mount or the expensive Montana Jack mounts.
Anyways, this is what I'm thinking.
1. Mount a Kolpin Universial hitch mount to the rear of ATV like this..

2. Purchase and mount a Cycle Country Winch Reciever mount like this(it's at the bottom of the page)..

3. Purchase a winch(I haven't decided but will probbaly be a cheap Gorilla or Viper winch for now) and mount to the Cycle Country Winch reciever mount with quick disconnects for the power wires.
4. Mount or take off winch when needed
Will it work out as good as I hope it will? I think I have enough clearence as I do have the rear bumper for my ATV

Hamman,I may have exactly what you are looking for.I recently traded in my 07 700sp. for an 850sp. As a result,my custom fabbed rear mount is no longer required. I built it out of 3/8 aluminum plate with tig welded seams. It mounts to rear vertical frame rails completely tucked away right behind the battery one inch above rear diff. You will barely even know the winch is present. No fairlead is required due to the slick mount positioning of it.If you need photos,I will gladly run to my shop and take them for you. Let me know. J

Post them here.I wanna see too.
For a removable winch make one to fit the receiver hitch and a couple of alligator clips for the battery.
We went to Tongue River Reservoir a few weeks ago.The 4 weeler pulling in the trailer loaded with supplies had a rough time with the hill getting to the cabin.A rear winch would have been real handy for that.

Thought I`d post this pic of heading into the cabin after crossing the lake. This is the gradual slope of the climb. The weeler pulling the trailer is an Arctic Cat.{BAD WORD}LOL but note the winch cable is tied to the back of My 400POPO
