Default 2003 Magnum 330 Front Gearcase

I am confused by what my manual says versus what I have read here. I am not sure what I have on the front end of my atv. My manual indicates that I might have a Visco Drive (HDS?) which takes one type of fluid. The 2004 manual shows the most accurate image of my gearbox and calls for Premium Hub Drive Fluid. I am at a loss.

Any help would be appreciated.

FYI
I am using Mobil 1 0w40 synthetic for my oil and transmission.
I am using 80w-90 synthetic for my rear gearbox.

These have been working well for my so far. This is the first time I am changing my front gearbox oil since purchasing used last year.

Thanks,
John

It takes the premium hub drive fluid, have not found any substitute.

i wouldnt use the 80-90w oil. that is too think for the gear box and cause your silent chain to stretch prematurely. just use regular motor oil. lower viscosity so it is able to coat all the gears without heat. since the gearbox is seperate from the motor it does not get the heat required for gear oil to thin out and coat the chain and gears in there.

I put 5oz of the Premium Hub Drive Fluid in the front gearcase last night. 5oz does not seem like enough. Is there a way to confirm I have enough fluid in there?

Also, I assume that I am right about having a Centralized Hilliard (Demand Drive Gearbox)? I wish Polaris was a bit more careful about the accuracy of their manuals. My 2003 manual has plenty of conflicting information.

As far as the rear gearbox goes, I had not heard of using regular motor oil. My 2003 manual indicates GL5 80-90 weight gear lube. The 2004 manual that I have also been using for reference, indicates Polaris ATV Angle Drive Fluid.

I think I have read on this forum that most people are using 80w-90 gearbox oil. Please correct me if I am wrong!
