What type oil and oil filter
Hey there...
Good question, in fact its the same question that I have. I've been buzzing around on a 2 stroke for the last couple of years, but now I've picked up a 2000 TrailBoss 325 4 stroke. Someone on another forum was mentioning that he uses only full synthetic oil 0w50. He uses this in the crankcase and in the transmission. Could someone verify if this is a good idea. How do you go about draining the oil cooler on the front of the bike?
Thanks

For a 2 stroke there are a lot of "aftermarket" oils out there that are as good or better then OEM and by far cheaper, recommending one would probably start a worthless debate thats been overdone already, buy the best you can afford and if possible with your budget make it synthetic. I think a bigger problem to worry about is consistency in using the same oil, DO NOT blend synthetic & conventional oils.

*********My bad I was talking and typing, though the same goes for 4 strokes. Easiest and safest is run what the dealer would put in and in your case its 0-40w full synthetic. Just don't try to "blend oils" you'll only end up with headaches run one type per oil change.
