Your not serious? A girl Won a 04 660 grizzly and never even started it, It was $9000 OTD (In Canada) to buy it at a dealership here, and my friend bought it off her for $7000.

He put only 500 miles easy on over the last 3 years and wants to sell for $6000. Thats a $3000 savings for a ATV with 400 miles on it! PS. the warranty was only 6 months long and was over before he knew he had one.</end quote></div>
I meant buying from a dealer, of course you can get a better deal buying from a private party

 

I am loking at a used 3003 sportsman 700. I have not seen it yet but they say it is in good cond. except the motor has a small hole in the lower block, and engine is locked up. I probably could have the block welded. But what would be the worst case secerno if the crank is bad? What would be the availability of a used engine. I figure if I had $1000. in the engine, I would be ok. Any thoughts appreciated&gt; ( I know, use it for a boat ancor.) I am not fimauliar with the construction of this engine to know how it is built and if it could be reparied.

 

3003 sportsman ?....What do they look like??........Just kiddin'...............You never did say how much your paying or the person is asking for it?...............I wouldn't pay too much for it...........The way I look at it is:.......What ever you pay for it can you sell it in parts and get your money back?.........This is "only" if the engine repairs/replacement does not go as you plan!!!.......At least this way you can recover all the money you put out for the quad!!...........Caper...........

 

Alot of good information from you guy's, I appreciate it greatly ! This week I will start to look for 07 leftovers and compare to good used bike prices. I'm not in a big hurry to buy. I'll just wait for the right deal and hopefully be 1st in line [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] !

Definately stick with an 01 or later sportsman. They ride awesome and definately stick with the 500 or above. If you don't want EFI you'll have to find you a 500-700 carb version. You'd be happy with either of them. I love my sportsman and don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon.

 

2006/2007 Sportsman 450 has the full size frame and more then enough power for my wife and I........Caper....................
