Melting Plastic Fix

I posted a message a few months back that my dealer had told me Polaris was testing a fix in Arizona and it would be available in a month or so. I called today and he said they do have a new heat shield to fix the problem but it is already on back order and would take three to four weeks before he could get one. But he did give me the part number in case any of you guys want to check with your local dealers. Part # 2876773 Good Luck

and such costs and where do you get it done
at?

I have no idea of cost mine is covered under waranty, it doesn't repair anything just prevents further melting( I'm not sure because I haven't seen it yet but I believe it is a different heat shield that replaces current one installed on exhaust pipe)

i already fixed mine when i got it new, got the header coated by Jet-Hot and added extra heat shield tape to the plastic, even in the hottest weather my leg doesn't even get hot...

The only problem I have had with plastic melting so far on mine is the cover that slides in with the little plug clip on the right side. the plug thing has melted into a pile of plastic. It still seems to hold pretty good though.

I was wondering if I could get it fixed even if the plastic hasnt melted YET since it is a problem?

Yea I had the same problem on my 07 500 deluxe after owning it for only 2 weeks. My plug deal that holds on the side plate melted. I pulled off the plate not relizeing what happened and now it won't clip back on so now I am sporting some duck tape holding it on. The dealer is putting the heat shield on and replacing the whole rear end plastic ($500). Good thing it is covered under warrenty!

I also got mine replaced for the same problem. My dealer knows that I'm a mechanic and I'd rather do my own work, so when the parts were ordered I got them to order extra heat tape as well, so when I put it back together I doubled and tripled the tape where I had problems so hopefully I won't have any more problems.
