Default Who owns the oldest Polaris?

97 Sportsman with 7000 miles is awsome.
I just wonder how many miles these engines will last.
I've been told if you take care of them with freq. oil and filter changes they will last a long time.

The idea of this forum question is to see what longevity these engines have.

I did work that 300 hard at the start, but I do take good care of it. All the regular stuff. Main thing is that I keep it out of the water. Water will kill more stuff than anything else on these bikes!!

I have a 1990 350L 2WD that is getting a 400L long block with 5mm stroker in it .

It is very old school , and will be very quick and very upsetting to some of the modern sportbike owners when it comes time to do some impromptu dragracing . And yes , there will be a little firewood strapped to the rack when dragracing .

If you do a search("How many miles") on this forum there are some people with 10,000 miles on there polaris. Here is a short example.

I have an '87 TB 250 4x4- engine never touched- runs like a champ This year I put new struts on it and new tires. Since they had no speedos or odometers I could not even guess how many miles are on it. Rode that exclusively until Oct 05 when I bought my SP 800. I still get her out from time to time.

Just to let you know my 2006 Sportsman 450 has 1000 miles on it already and I bought them the end of June 2006. Only 8 months old and put those miles on between July and Nov. 2006.
I know some guys at work and they laugh at me due to the fact they have Sportsmans from the late 1990's and they only have about 1200-1500 miles on them!!!!!.....
I tell them ............................................There no good parked in the yard!!!!!!!!RIDE THEM!!!!!!!!
Good topic I will be reading!!!!!!!Thanks....Caper............
