Default BEWARE of the HAWKEYE. DANGEROUS

Great information on this board, before these methods of sharing information each of us had to fly solo.

Just dropped my son's Hawkeye off at the shop for the 3 time. First were for broken rear axles at the inner CV joint and as I now see from the board it was a common problem.

We just got back from Canada trip ATVing, the Haweye wasn't idling very well so I was checking the board and start seeing the issue with the breaking frame tabs that the lower rear A-frames connect to. I pulled the Hawkeye into the garage and sure enough mine were cracked as well, so back to the shop.

Once the bugs are ironed out it should be a good quad for the money.

Have you talked with the Consumer Safety Commission about the broken sub-frame as others have? They need enough reports so that Polaris will make it a recall and not charge for the repair after the warranty expires.

Do you have a link to the Consumer Safety Commission or any info on how to contact them?

OK. I just noticed that the Hawkeyes have only one brake in the rear on the left side. I guess because the diff is locked anyway??

Right. With a live axle-type situation, a brake is a brake, anywhere along the subsystem. Odd that his one isn't near the center, though.
