breather hose update ?
With the 700/600 twins breather hose update the filter is omitted. In the manual it says damage will be done if you run without the filter in place.
Does this defeat the purpose? Shouldn't there have just been a slit cut in the existing hose /filter setup nearest the motor?
IMO it would be easier and better than replacing the hose/filter altogether.
Thanks,
Jim

breather hose update ?
It was a polaris bulletin on 02-04 models with the breather hose having the filter in line from airbox to crankcase.
It can build up condensation in cold climates and freeze up causing a pressure build up. The fix was to install a new hose void of a filter with a small 1" slit to relieve the pressure if this was to happen.

would have to double check, but are you sure the manual isn't talking about the air filter - just calling it a breather filter?

Jeff,
on page 103 of the 02 700 manual it has a CAUTION box stating:
"Operation of your atv without a breather filter can cause engine damage."
it does say below with an asterask "Breather filter and hose 4 cycle engines with dry sump*" about checking it.
This is all under the Maintainance and Lubrication section.
the 700 is a pressurized wet sump , right? Maybe this dont apply but the diagram shown looks like the twin and this is a specific 2002 sp 700 owners manual.
thanks,
Jim
jeff,
one more thing the early 700's didnt come with a oil sensor. If i installed one from like the 03 or 04 model is there wiring to plug it into?
