front spring crunching?

front spring crunching?
My 2001 sportsman 500 HO started to make some noise when the front suspension is moving. I installed HD springs a few years ago and only started to hear this lately. It's like someone is tapping the spring rungs with a wrench when compressing the front end. I'm wondering if I tightened the shock top bolt too tight when installing the springs? I sprayed some lube up around the top pivot point and after a few hrs, it seems to quiet down for a bit.
I see that I have a top and bottom plastic pivot ball in there which I'm guessing is worn. What other parts should I get if I have to replace those *****? Do you think loosening that top bolt would help?
Thanks

Usually worn top and bottom pivot ***** as you mentioned. I've had to replace plenty of them over the years. Always replace the rubber spacer and metal washer at the top if they show signs of wear also. Usually this takes care of the noise/crunching. Items 19 and 24 on the pivot *****. 25,26 on the washer and rubber spacer.Don't loosen the top bolt. It must be tight.
