If you have the carb out,just grind a 14mm wrench down flat on the sides enough to reach further on the nut. This is about the only way you can get a firm grip on the choke nut as the carb body itself restricts any regular type wrench from accessing it.I still have one in my tool box I made just for this purpose. If the choke operates ok,just leave the choke assembly attached when you pull the carb out to install the new carb kit. When you pull the top cap off and carb slide out you can pull the choke lever and see if the brass plunger moves back and forth opening and shutting off the choke circuit.
