Hall effect sensor shorting out was the most common cause that I had on speed not registering. You can also check for any mud or dirt that may be blocking the signal from the sensor cap.Plus simple thing like the connector loose at the speedo itself. Item 37 for the sensor.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse

If your AWD works its not the speedo.
My speedo does not work and I know its just the wheel sensor(Hall Effect). I just did not bother with it since the wheel sensor in Canada cost $80. I,d rather spend that on gas.
Not like their is and speed limits to follow in the bush.
Even if it was your speedo you can bypass it to get your AWD back without buying a $300 speedo.

When my wheel sensor started acting up the speedo needle would work once in awhile before it just stopped for good.
The senor is in a god awful place for dirt and mud next to the front brake rotor.
Even if I changed it I think it would not take long to screw up again anyways.
My speedo is so fogged up anyways I could see anything on it even if it did work. LOL
