1996 sportsman no low end power
my sportsman 500 runs like it only has a 5hp motor.
It sound fine @ idle. It will take all of a country mile to get to its top speed. The odd thing is that the problem will go away for about 15 miles or so and then come back. my mechanic has checked the electical, carb, intake, cam lobes and were stuck where to look next.
please if any one has any ideas

Have you checked out the clutches, especially the buttons and belt, plus stator could be breaking down as it gets hot. Just a couple things if you haven't checked these out if you're sure the cam ,carb, etc have been eliminated as a problem. If it takes a while to build up speed just sounds like it's in the clutch area?? OPT
