Default Jetting for no lid on airbox

I have an 06 Yamaha Wolverine 450 and I'm trying to fine tune my jetting after some mods. The Dynojet kit for my bike is a Stage 1 and says for my altitude I should be using a DJ-128 main jet with a high flow pipe and stock airbox lid. I have installed a UNI clamp on foam filter and want to know if a 140 main jet sounds about right with the lid off. My bike has a slight hesitation from off idle (2 seconds) when I peg the throttle but really rips after that. Thanks for any input.

That bogg off idle, is more likely the pilot jet/fuel screw than the main.

I know those jet kits make suggestions, but that is just to get you into the ballpark. Having us throw out some numbers isn't much better either. Start out with something you know is going to be rich, then work down until it starts running lean, then back it back up so it is a little rich for a margin of safety against being to lean.

Id start with a 140 and work down. I run a 140 on mine with a closed airbox and it is running just right I believe. But thats with a bbk and a cam as well.

I agree, the bog is a lean idle circuit. Try at least one size up, on the pilot jet, and recheck the mixture screw setting.

I have the Dynojet DPJM018 pilot jet in there now and I wonder if that sizing is off from Mikuni sizing like their main jets.

Well I've tried going up one size on the pilot jet with the same mixture and it made the problem worse (4 second bog). Tried messing with the mixture screw and it still wasn't any better. Went back to the Dynojet pilot jet and dropped the needle clip one notch (3rd from top) and it made it worse, put it back to 2nd position. Went up to a 142 main jet and that was even worse. I'm back to a 140 main, 2nd notch on the needle, the Dynojet 18 pilot jet and 1 1/2 turns out on the mixture screw and I still get a 1 1/2 second bog before it takes flight. I wonder if the combo of the auto transmission, clutch kit, cam, and open air box will ever give me the snap off idle that I had when the bike was stock or if I just need to get used to it. Btw I live at 5300 feet above sea level and it was 65 degrees out.
