2001 polaris scrambler 500 4x4 bogging out
Hey I got a 2001 polaris scrambler 500 4x4 & I love the power she has but she's starting to bog/stall on me. It's when I release the throttle. She has a new clean air filter. She starts right up! Got all the fluids but I don't know why she's bogging. I have electric current but maybe I could charge the battery but I need some expert info about her. Please let me know guys, thanks!

Simple things like a partially fouled plug, dirty air filter etc could do this, plus could be trash in the carb. If in doubt about the battery have it load tested, plus check that it's charging 14 volts at the battery at an idle to rule out a regulator/rectifier also. These older machines could run with a weak, practically dead battery though as they had a magneto triggered ignition system versus the new dci systems that have to have a good charged battery for ignition.Plus it could be as simple as too much slack at the thumb throttle.1/8" slack maximum allowed or the etc switch contacts in the throttle housing could touch causing it to die. Video explains how to adjust, but doesn't say how much slack to have. Click the top bar to play..http://www.ehow.com/video_4468404_polaris-atv-thumb-throttle-maintenance.html
