President Obama's trip to Copenhagen to lobby for his hometown to get the 2016 Olympics was, IMO, another blunder that will hurt his image worldwide!
The speeches him and his wife made were all about themselves, with very little about the positive attributes of Chicago and the surrounding area.
It's a good thing, IMO, that Chicago lost the bid for the Olympics, as it would have put the city in debt for years!

The Americans held the Games in 84 and 96. I thought the decision was due to just letting others have a turn. Japan held the games once in the early 1964 and Spain had them in 92 I think and Brazil not once.
When I heard the Americains where in the running to hold the games, I said to myself "AGAIN, I thought this planet had more countries than that".
Winter games are a different case,there just never going to be held in Rio Brazil.

I have no interest in having the games held here. All it does is saddle us with more debt. Like he hasn't dug a deep enough hole as it is.

I'm glad we didn't get them mostly due to the corrupt Chicago system. I imagine that the Olympic Committee would have had to be rescued again by Mitt Romney. Once was enough.

You are right about one thing, Obama IS wandering around trying to figure out how and where he can get more money to spend. That's his answer to everything! Throw the taxpayers money at the problem, and their children's and grand children's, as of yet, unearned, tax revenue as well.
