Ok... So I posted this on another thread a couple days ago... with no replies... So maybe posting this on it's own, maybe you can assist...
I am looking at getting the titan deluxe lounger. Couple quick questions, will this fit the 08 sportsman? standard rack on back... so I am assuming it will. does the box come with the hardware, etc, required to install on my ATV? how difficult is the installation with the box and wiring for the light? Are there any instructions on-line I can look at to see if this is something I want to undertake?
So, I am the proud new owner of the Titan Deluxe Lounger....
After reading thoroughly over quite a few boxes... MOST of them said that they were not to be used for a passenger. This one, however did not say that in any literature that I could find. I purchased this from a store... and on the inside of the box to the left, there was a label that said it was not for a passenger. Now, i am nervous. I was going to use this for my daughter to trail ride with me... Why would this box come with the handles/hand warmers if this were not for a passenger? If I bolt down to sturdy portions of the rack, should I be worried about the box breaking off backwards if I go up a slight incline with a passenger on the back? Before I install it, gotta wonder if it shouldn't go back to the store if it isn't going to serve the use I intended.
Keep in mind that I am just another ATV rider. I don't speak for anyone but myself, let alone Tamarack.
If your ATV was built for one person, adding a box with a seat will not change that. Adding a passenger will change the weight distribution and could make the ATV unstable. Try going to Hatfield McCoy (or any other trail system with law enforcement present) with a passenger on an ATV built for one. There is no way they will let you ride. In fact, you will probably be cited. They won't care if you added a box with a seat because your ATV was not built for two.
Box/seat manufactures like Tamarack, Kimpex, etc. know this and for liability reasons, cannot market their products as passenger seats. Every example I have seen clearly states that the seat is not intended for a passenger. Just like a set of brass knuckles I saw advertised as a paper weight.
All that being said, I'm sure the vendors know that a percentage of their buyers will use them to carry passengers. Although they cannot acknowledge or endorse this practice, I'm sure they make them as safe and comfortable as possible. If you are a skilled rider and your daughter is not heavy and you don't take risks riding, you'll probably be fine. But as you know, a certain degree of risk comes along with riding an ATV and you are adding to the risk to some degree.
Buying a box/seat is not like getting a 2-up ATV on the cheap.

Thanks. That was the kind of answer I was looking for. In MN, it is legal to ride with a passenger on a class 1 ATV. So, it is legal to do so. My daughter is not heavy... especially at 11 years of age. And I am EXTREMELY careful with her on the back. All liability aside, was just looking for an opinion on the sturdiness of the box. Thanks!
