any 450 is going to be fast. if you can spend like 9000 the ktm525 is going to be the fastest stock bike. of all the other 450s i like the ltr-450 the best. it has fuel injection, very good stock suspestion(not as good as the ktm but very good). yfz450 and the 450r are going to cost less than the ltr-450 and kfx450. so i guess here is how i whould rate them if i were going to buy
1. ktm 525 (if you can afford it)
2 raptor 700 (not so much for track)
3 ltr-450
3. yfz450
4.450r
5. kfx450 (have not herd much about them and have not rode one)

It all depends on what your going to use it for. Racing or hunting or mudding. I just bought a 07 AC 650 HI for 6000. The retailer had a lot left for 07 and they were having a good sale. A 650 for most people is fast enough and with a few changes it could really move.

if you've got the money go with the ktm 450 or 525.they are expensive but they'll dominate anything that is stock once you tune it to your style.they come race ready with all the good parts on it.should'nt have to by aftermarket parts for it it comes with it on it already.the shocks alone would be at least 2k for the yfz

if you are really going to be racing the bike a 450 would be a good choice. if you are looking for race performance for average use the raptor 700 is a good bike. can't speak for the 525, but it is a compromise between the 700 and the 450. it really depends on the use, though all quads are very similar. you could buy a 9g quad with better factory parts or buy a 7g quad and add the parts that suit you style. Personally if I had 9g to spend I would buy a 450 put 2g worth of aftermarket parts on it and spank the pants off any 9g quad. the 450r, yfz450, or lt450r are great platforms and will allow you to upgrade with ease.

If you watch the quad races on outdoor channels alot of the 4x4s are outlanders
but there just about the most costly quad out there

The 450s answer most powerful part but not the cheapest part of the question. Remember he said "Cheapest and most Powerful" The cheapest with the most performance is a Suzuki Z-400.
The Outlaw 525s with the straight axle cost less and has more power than any of the 450s made.
525 vs DS450 price.
Only the KTM 525 has as much power (Same motor so no surprise) but everyone knows what those KTMs cost.

as far as im concerned if u wnt a serious sport machine go yfz450 or ktm. of ur looking for a utility, hands down grizzly 700. it might not be THE fastest most powerful out there, but its the overall best designed machine ive ever seen, and its still plenty fast. (o ya, BEST fi system, 4wd system, and transmission too)

All 450s are great. Top three according to atv sport. ktm 450, ds450, outlaw 450mxr. speed wise the ktm then outlaw were quickest. The outlaw with a 7400 price tag with razr mx tires and Fox Podium X shocks Is very nice. Also look into Can Am ds 450. KTM is awesome but people complainin about the suspension bein real stiff, but re valve and your good, but very pricy. If its more torque and speed you want and your not worried bout it bein 450 class, then outlaw 525s, raptor 700, and KTM 525xc (once again expensive) are tour quads. All Very nice! Really you cant go wrong with anything anymore!

the 450r is only a 4 valve head, makes about 5hp less than the yfz, and has 2" less suspension travel all around, but it is pretty reliable. oh, and you have to pay EXTRA for electic start... WTF??? this is 2008! not 1988!
but overall the yfz motor is WAY better for racing, the honda is better for long term things like the baja 500, etc.
