i am trying to remove my sons rear axle from the swing arm on his honda trx, the bearings are bad and the axle is moving all around in the swing arm, and i am having big trouble trying to remove the 2 large nuts by the swing arm, i understand they need to be tight but i have been heating them and still they wont move, if i am behind the four wheeler i have been trying to go counter clock wise, but after thinking about this , i thought maybe they are left hand threads to help them stay tight, so i know someone else has been down this same road, so i would really appreciate the help and thanks in advance..

I just did one on my 05' 400ex. both nuts are lefthand. First loosen the jam nut the one to the left, turn it counterclockwise ( toward the ground ). Turn it in about a half inch, then turn the big nut the sameway eventually you will see a ring emerge behind the nut, take it off then the whole sleeve will come off then just pull on the axle.

i dont think i have the same setup both of these nuts are the same diameter , and it looks like maybe there is a ring behind the 2 nuts, but now i have to find narrow inch and a half wrench to try to get on the inside nut, does this still sound like the same situation to you , thanks again

Yes it sounds the same, I used 2 pipe wrenches but you can buy wrenches made for them from rockymountain.com. Just turn them both downward but separatly. The pin will be on the righthand side of the nuts, remove that then both nuts and a threaded sleeve will slide off then your brake rotor.

i dont have a disc brake, this is a drum but i will try again tomorrow, and i will post an update , and thanks again because so many guys look at your post but dont like to post a response.
