Hey there I am the now the proud owner of a 2002 fx400 with many race upgrades. It was purchased for my son used and the bike never came with an owners manual or service book.I have since bid on 3 from e-bay but as of yet been able to win one.The thing is we have no one close that works on these and I feel that I need to change the oil prior to allowing him to ride it but I have no idea as how to do this.I have purchased full synthetic oil from the local atv shop and trans. oil not synth. but recommended by the shop.Who by the way just closed this week.I would like for him to be able to ride today but I am ignorant in the correct way to do the most minor of things on this paticular bike.I would appreciate any help at all.I promise not bother you all with such trivial questions once I get a manual but at this point I am at the mercy of this forum for help. Thanks in advance

there are 3 oil drains, one on the left (if you were sitting on the quad) which is down a little bit on the frame, then the other two are on the right side (again if you were sitting on the quad) one on the frame right back a little ways from where you put the oil in, and then the other one is on the motor toward the bottom on the side, i think it is the front one i think the back is tranny (could be wrong don't hold me against it lol), make sure that you warm it up good 1st and measure how much you get out of it and put that much exactly back in or you will have it spitting it out of the air cleaner i know from experience, also when draining the one on the motor you will probably want to tip it up just about on its side to get all the oil out (thats what i do with mine)

These guys really know what theyr talking about good luck with it the spark plug might also need a change its under the 5 gallon gas tank and I believe the coil is on top of the plug...and the airfilter is under the front plastics incase you didn't know that its kinda weird how they engineered it but a very nice quad.
