Ive seen them at auto parts stores, I thought about buyin one but it's not needed if you're running open airbox with #40 air jet. I could be wrong but pretty sure thats what I read. They're like 8-9 bucks and didn't seem worth it if I don't need it.

I was talking about the clear breather tube. It said that he plugged up the hole at the snorkle end and put a unifilter at the carb end, or am I reading it wrong?

Right, he did, but he said you don't have to if you have the smaller air jet. Im pretty sure thats what I picked out of it. If I had the time right now I'd go thru and look for you but I dont. just take a peep at the first post. I think its in there somewhere.

Just need my #40 airjet and allen head screws for the float bowl because I tore the stock ones apart getting them out. even vice grips werent workin since they were so rounded and thin. I got a disced endcap and a big gun cdi comming and can't wait to race those guys that were gettin me by a length or 2!

You should just do the alternative and JB weld it, then drill the hole like OMR told us about. That's what I'm doing.

yeah thought about that too, but I don't have one of those little *ss drill bits. I guess I could buy one, just thought buyin the jet would be easier.
I did research that part number 707200187 OMR left as the #40 air jet. I found a page that says "bombardier quest max carburator parts." If this jet I ordered at my local shop isnt the right one I'll order one off that page or at least tell my shop what the part number is for. for some reason they couldn't look it up based on the part number. Guess I'll find out in a few days, hopefully sooner, I wanna ride!!

went and got the airjet today, it's a little longer then the stock one but that shouldnt matter, right? its only letting in air and its not like theres a special venturi effect, it's just limiting the amount of air comming in. my endcap and cdi should be here friday, hopefully its nice enough out and I can take it for a little test ride without having to take it down the street.

Another question...
With all these mods and a better flowing exhaust how many turns out on the pilot screw jet? the dj kit says 2 I think.

With the more aggressive cdi's the pilot screw needs to start at 3 turns out.
For racing or airlid off you may need to go 3 1/2 turns out.

I got the carb back on and started her up and she runs great! I couldn't take it for a test ride but I let it warm up, adjusted idle to 1450rpm and reved on it a few times. throttle response is awesome! she was boggin down low probably because of the cold but now it's crisp! I rode it from my garage to the fence and now I really can't wait to take it for a spin! I left the pilot screw at 2 turns right now until I get my cdi and endcap. Need to change oil and plugs so I can really see how rich/lean she's runnin. I'll probably step down to 89 octane instead of 93. I feel like I'm a kid again! lol

In the summary, there was a 47.5 pilot mentioned. My 2003 DS has a 40, and my dealer can only get 45 and 50. I opted to order the 45. I've also got the DJ kit & K&N w/outerwear on order. Now that I've read all 6 pages of this thread, I'm wondering with the DJ kit being more rich at idle, do I need the larger Pilot? Also where should I start for the Pilot screw setting with the 45 Pilot (K&N will arrive with the DJ kit, closed airbox, stock CDI and stock exhaust)?
I'll make the other mods after I get through my first round of bolt ons.

2 turns out if 60 degree's or warmer
2 1/2 turns out if below 60
The factory sometimes used a 40 and sometimes a 45.
With DJ kit 45 works great.

Ok question is this: New to the world of DS650's I bought a 2000 DS650 from a guy that bought it directly from ALBA Motorsports new, has Ron Woods exhaust, K&n fiter and air intake scoop things. So heres the problem. It hauls ass off the the line, but falls flat on it's face in 3rd gear. It's got nothin'!!!! So I had the carb cleaned and rejetted, but it seems to be worse. I also have a 15 tooth sprocket on the front instead of the stock 16 tooth, and smaller tires on the back. Does this sound like a "fuel/air" issue that just needs to be dialed in?? Or maybe something else??
