Might be helpful to Jetmoto to have our wish list for the 08 Jetmoto line up. Any improvements or changes on any of the Jetmoto models you think would make these quads closer to what you would hope a good inexpensive quad could and should be.

I will start;

-I would like to see better quality Rubber used on the parts.
-Better gearing on the 250's
-Better quality build of the Mufflers on the 150 Sport

I will add more as I think of it!

The muffler dosen't rattle on mine. Some things I'm willing to accept to keep the price low. The chain is one, No OE chain is really that good no matter WHERE it comes from IMO. Maybe go to a 520 chain?

Here's my list,

1. MUCH better quality ball joints and tierod ends. AND I MEAN M U C H better!!!

2. Maybe stretch the wheelbase out a little.

3. Change the angle of the thumb throttle slightly. Closed it is at too close to a right angle to the handlebars.

4. Improve the quality of the reflector plating inside the headlight/taillight. Also neither have any real seal, and water get's into both of them. The water keeps blowing headlight bulbs at $8.00 a pop.

5. A longer rear shock, maybe an 1" or 2".

6. More accessory parts.

7. Braces under the rear fenders. If they get too much mud on them they sag under the weight, and might break going over bumps.

8. A stronger chain tensioner spring.

9. Did I mention ball joints? ;-)

Sealed Air box.
Japanesse-size battery tray so we can get one locally that will fit AND have enough CCAs.
Larger bolt pattern on the rear sprocket hub.
Grease zirks where they are needed.
520 chain
Longer, stiffer (heh) rear spring that needs little preload.
Rubber seals on the taillight housing
wider handlebars.
bigger gas tank.

Optional Front rack (mounting to bumper mount)
Optional plastic that removes headlights so you can install a set that will actually light up something other than the ground 10' in front of you.

Don't forget a redesign on the rear axle housing, better bearings all around, and a redesign on the lower rear shock mount.

For those of you who have ridden your quads pretty hard or have put a few hours on them I would suggest you pull your rear shock. Inspect the lower mount to make sure the bolt holes are still round and not ob-longed or oval shaped. The metal used was too thin and there was not enough material used for the end of the bolt holes. The shock will rip itself right out of its mount. This area is going to fail from general use, bottoming out, and jumping the quad. I guarantee this and have seen it first hand. I do consider this to be a major safety issue for a rider and one that needs to be fixed. I know the issue has never been discussed and that it probably hasn't because it hasn't happened to any of you yet. This area will give out on you eventually, and God forbid it happens at high speed or in the air.

I must apologize to both Jetmoto and Raceway for the bad write up, but since this thread was started I thought I would voice my concerns and my opinion as to what upgrades should be done. And for those of you wanting a stiffer rear shock I would almost guarantee the mount will fail rapidly from the added pressure.

How about stronger metal used for the frames? Because not only did I see the shock mount fail I also saw a bent frame and frame supports. How about a longer seat for larger riders? I'm sure the list can go on and on. I do remember an issue with the stickers not lasting for more than a couple of washes on the the quads.

Here is the plain and simple truth about the Chinese quad. The quads will never change in quality because the parts used will always be substandard. In order to keep the price down, the parts used will be cheap and unsafe.

Let's say Jetmoto uses better parts and they change a lot of these issues on the quads. The price is going to go up. When the price gets close to the $2500.00 range why would anyone consider the Chinese 250 when you could purchase a used Honda or Suzuki 250 for the same price?

It will be interesting to see the quality of the 08' Jetmoto 250's. How about a totally new design of the quad all together instead of copying one with crappy parts? A new one should be built from the ground up with good quality parts. If Jetmoto is trying to make a name for themselves I think they should start from scratch once again and build something that is not such a Hazard to a rider.

I think part of the problem with that, smb05, is that they have chinesse engineers who are concerned with thier manufacturing costs. I don't do much jumping, and I have been down for more than I have been riding, so I don't know about the shock and frame. Which revision of the 07 do you have? There have been changes to the rear shocks (spring rates) and the shock mount since they started shipping the 07. Eugene told me they were considering a longer shock on a better mount when I spoke to him.

I agree, a broken mount is more than a bad thing. I will check mine out when I get the sprocket in this week or next. I have a lot of things to do to the quad and I've been sort of consumed with my new car for 2 weeks.

smb05, does not have a Jetmoto but had witnessed MWQ's first ride and failure of his rear spring mount. I have ridden mine a lot and have jumped and woopiedude and have not experienced and rear mount problems on neither one of my 250's or 150's. I am not saying it can't or won't fail but to date all is completely in tacked and I do inspect it often. I may be wrong but MWQ is the only one to date that has had this failure!? Jetmoto has I believe already addressed this and have made changes on current production runs!

Yeah, I checked and mine looks solid. I think it was fixed. I know Jetmoto has been changing things in production on the fly. It just takes a while for them to trickle-down to the consumers.

Im sure if you keep the bolts tight you wont have a problem. Just like the rear sprocket bolts. If they loosen up, the bolts will shear.

Im sorry for not being more in the game with all this. I started the hype and then you and a few others have kept it going.

My story is simple...sort of...I got extremely pre occupied with my CNC Mill in early March, It took about a month to get going and then... it broke. Being the cheap old guy I am. I insisted on saving 3K by not buying a new servo motor. Instead I fixed it by gluing the magnets back in the housing. That cost me about 2 1/2 months of my spare time. I was at a few cnc forums asking a bunch of questions and learning a few thing to share with that forum. Time I would have been here and working on the Jetmoto 250.

I just finished the repair a couple of days ago. I will get those pics into my page after dinner.

Here is what I would like to see changed.

1) A larger rear sprocket, about a 50 tooth one. This would allow for better gear ratios without going to a 12 tooth front sprocket.
2) Swap out the stock 428 chain for a 520 chain.
3) slightly stiffer springs with slightly more damping on compression and rebound.
4) Replace the chain tensioner with a chain guide.
5) Much better rubber for gas line, vent hoses, etc....
6) A upgrade of the ball joints and tie rod ends.
7) Seals on the swingarm, a-arms, and the linkage pivots.
8) I'll keep thinking......
