Problem is continuing with my kazuma 150. It will idle fine but I cannot hit the gas at all. Then I unhooked the cdi to check for tightness and when I plugged it back in it started to move but it is very jerky with a little backfiring. I had the carb off to clean several times I also have extra chokes (electric) to swap and even tried a different carb from another 150. Bought 4 ngk plugs and nothing seems to work. They hardly have any time on them and I have even changed the batteries. I was thinking the cdi unit went bad but I didn't know if the unit would even start if it was bad. To me it seems like an engine that is missing. I have a good spark. It also did run perfect at one time.Any input would help.
Thanks
Tim

There is some advantage of having two the same but at this time one is home the other is in the mountains. What drives me crazy is they were both running fine at first. I didn't find out about the gel stuff in the carb till it was too late. So you know that stuff turns to brown syrup after it sits inside the carb( one weekend down). Cleaned the carbs and used them again for a day no problem. Went back two weekends later down again. John at raceway sent me new chokes so that is how I could interchange them. Still took one home and it ran but only with the mixture screw all the way out. I wasn't ok with this but didn't know what was wrong. Both batteries have died in the process and won't re-charge so I bought good ones on my own. John is sending me a new carb so I'll wait and see if this helps. Thanks again Bill you have helped me before with getting all the oils changed.

If you haven't already, try removing the fuel line from the carburetor and open the shut off to check the flow from the tank. My kazuma had plastic burrs in the tank which lodged in the fuel shut off restricting flow and also passed plastic debris into the carb bowl. Try flushing the tank and blowing out the fuel shut off with compressed air. Also, the electric chokes aren't very functional during cold starting, requires some warm up time - some have gone to a different carb with a mechanical butterfly choke or a primer system. My Kazuma did the same thing the first few rides and the plastic burrs from the tank were the culprit. Best of luck.

two things will help you out, one is use a battery tender, you're never have another dead battery no matter how cheap they are, cost beteen 15-30$, the other thing is always use a fuel additive, this will quit the gas from gunking up the carburator. i use the 88 cent stuff from walmart never had another problem carb problem after using this stuff.

My 150 would idle OK then backfire and run horrible past idle. then would die past idle. New Coil solved it

Hi, mine wasdoing exactly the same from new like yours, it was a loose connection on the coil. These wires need to be clamped and have a very good connection. Even if they feel tight, clamp them.

My Dingo 150 is doing the same thing. Cleaning the carb didn't help. Please post any fixes you find. I'll check the coil wires next.

kazooooma,
John at raceway sent me a replacement mikuni carb and I changed the coil and the cdi on my own all at the same time and it started up and runs good. Not sure what was the cause of the weird bucking it was doing but it has stopped. Tomorrow if I get to it i will swap back the old coil and cdi individually so I could see which one was bad if any. John seemed to think it was all from the carb.

This morning I switched the cdi with another and it still ran good. I'm guessing the bucking was from the coil which was very loose at the connection I switched over to the higher output coil just to be safe and it was cheap.

Where did you get the coil (Raceway?) and how much?

My Dingo is not bucking just can't rev it above idle when cold, and even for a while after it should be warm, it just bogs down.

I got the coil from oregonvintage.com (lots of good info on 150cc engine) for $30. It is a mrp brand. Now I see alot of them on ebay but don't know the quality but it looks the same.

Bakermon,

Did you ever solve the issue of your quad idling but not being able to hit the gas. I have the exact same problem with a Redcat VX150 and am at the end of my rope trying to figure it out.

Any help or information would be appreciated. Hope you found a solution.

heartsfield, Both of my 150's have run great since October when i changed the carbs. John at raceway sent me a mikuni to try for my wife's quad and I bought another a Kehlin 30 mm for mine. The stock carbs on those quads is jetted too lean and not drilled out very accurately. When you hit the throttle it lets in a gush of air but there is not enough gas to keep it going. If I were you I would go to oregonvintage.com tons of good info on the 150's plus he sells jets for the 150 carbs. Many of the 150 quads have Kehlin style carbs.
Hope this helps

bryan,
This is after you checked that the carb jets were clean, cause that would be a simple fix especially if it was running good at one time. Mine both had problems right from the get go.

I bought two Kazumas from Raceway last Christmas a 90 and a 150. Neither ran for more than 5 hours before I started having trouble with them. Due to time I've hired a mechanic to work on these and they are costing me more to fix than I ever imagined. Raceway has had great customer service and the prices were great but I'm not impressed with their products. I guess you get what you pay for. I won't buy Kazuma again.

ribbler,
What sort of problems are you having? Since John sent me the new carb and I changed the other I have been totally trouble free. Mine sit for sometimes up to three weeks and with some help I learned to add a little fuel cleaner and always run them out of gas before I leave. They start up right away and off we go. I saw the quality or lack of when they came but when you need two the price is a factor. John honors the warranty and then some. The two 150's I have are easy for beginners and not to small for adults. I would do it again in a heartbeat. You can buy a used quad but around here people ask alot for them and if anyone thinks they are going to be trouble free they are kidding themselves. Some people never change the oil, bang the crap out of them etc. You just have to do what's going to work best for you.
