Decided to put a hitch on my truck, so I went down and bought me a Reese multi fit trailer hitch. Bad idea for me. Says it takes about 20 mins to install, well not for the first one, sure now that I've put one together I could do it in 20 but took an hour the first go round. Anyway never put it on the truck do to the fact that I need to torque several different size nut and bolts and dont own a torque wrench. Called around to price one out and man were talking some $$$$$$. Anyway decided to go with a one piece thats made just for my truck. Any suggestions of a brand name that I might look for. Theres several places to choose from around here with each carrying different brand names. Thanks.

You want to find a direct fit class III/IV hitch ... mainly looking at the max hitch tow weight and max touge weight. The brand almost doesn't make a difference, but the weight it can handle may vary several hundred pounds between brands. Also make sure you use Loctite red on all the nuts. I have a Reese on my truck that is 9 years old and looking good.

Went out this week and bought for $150 a heavy duty class lll hitch from the local trailer guy. At first I didnt think this guy would carry stuff for small trucks as he carries really big heavy duty trailers and such, but he did and for $25 bucks he put it on while I waited. Man that is the way to go. One piece hitch and not this multi fit junk that I had to put together myself. It cost me $55 more in the end but gave me piece of mind inwhich is priceless. Now I fill more than confedent towing my trailer. This DIY stuff aint for me. Not when I can drop a few bucks and have someone else do it for me and do it right...
