Alright, I have a DVX 400, equipt with a K&N Filter, aPro Cuircuit Pipe, and is re-jetted.The thing rips, it'll beat a Honda TRX 450R.
But I need alittle more speed.
Any suggestions?

have you put a CDI on it yet ? dynatek it the best one out there, your torque curve will improve and you'll gain more than a 1000 rpm's. which means you can hold on to a gear a little longer.

the trx450 must not be running good or the owner cant drive worth sh*t. Two of my buddies have them and they beat me on the road no problem. I hit rev limiter and they keep on pulling. Mine has full exhaust, airboxlid removed and K&n. their 450's are stock.

tight trails i blow em away, stunting and jumping i kill them too. They all like my bike better but they are die hard honda fans and wont ride anything but.

My 434 barely smaoke a newer 450 in stock trim. I agree with DVXdude.

You could try a bigger front sprocket, Cheap fix to no speed. You will have to grnd you case save a bit but itll fit. Another solution is the rev box, Dyna is the only way to go.

No. that kid's a good rider. We were both tapd and i pulled away. Not by a whole bnch bbut i did. This DVX of mien is pretty crazy actually. You'd probably be suprised. Everyone I usually go riding with was. and They all have 450's. and I can keep up to all of them.

Well, in addition to a sprocket which someone mentioned you can also try 'dial-a-jet' with the optional float and induct it with your favorite 'go fast mix',

I still have the airbox lid on, and haven't even jetted it yet, and will keep up with TRX450R's and YFZ450's. The LTR will blow me away with just a CRBM. But imagine what this thing will do with the air box lid off, and jetted?

I'm from Alberta Canada. But yeah, this DVX would suprise the sh*t outta you. Probably gonna race it next year, and do it up more (440 bore kit, new cdi, etc.). I'll try and get a video. I'm gonna be gone here for awhile at some local dunes.

I was just browsing through seen the post so i figured maybe i could help...but after reading i just had to jump in lol...I owned a 2006 DVX bought it in Oct. 05 and sold it this past spring for an '05 450R. My DVX had LRD Pro-4 exhaust , jetted, filtered, JE 13.5-1 piston Both Hotcams running on 110 Cam2. it was fast to say the least....but it was still not as fast as a pipped and jetted 450 which is why i bought the 450. I agree with DVXDude was the same way with me when I raced my buddies 450r i would hit the rev limiter in each gear and he'd pull farther and farther away....i'd say the 450 is faster at the top of 1st gear than my DVX was in top of 2nd...not that the DVX was slow at all just the two bike are geared way different the 450 is gear for speed the DVX better suited for trails.

Off of that subject on to helping you lol....if your thinking of going to a 440....don't do it!! either keep the stock bore and use a high comp. piston and both cams...or if you really want a big bore go with the Athena kit. Everybody i've known that has a bored out a Z400 has lived to regret it they keep on blowing headgaskets...something to do with the design of cylinder...you actually need to buy the whole cylinder kit to do it right! Hope this helps!

My DVX is even with the 450R 1st for 1st. It just get's there faster. It's the same with 2 piped and jetted 07 yfz's. This DVX of mine is crazy for what's done to it. I raced a guy with 12 grand into his Z for performance, and he beat me by 1-1.5 lengths. No one believed me that it would keep up to the 450's. And yeah, I was planning on the Athena. I might go 470 though.

Liarsenic might not be lying, a modded Dvx might be able to keep up with a trx450 if you were moving when you began to race because my stock Dvx can almost stay aside one in a race when we started the race moving but not stopped though

Well, if you have put the exhaust on you say you have with the K&N, and haven't jetted it yet, you can plan on a 440 kit when you burn the piston up.

Running against a TRX450R and winning... skiddish... But my buddies have a 07 YZF 450 and a 07 DVX (stock) and right now the DVX will pass the YZF... Only becuz his valves arent set properly.. maybe the Honda is the same. I have an 07 DVX (Stage 2 K&N, DynoJet jetting, Complete LRD Pro4 exhaust, RazR2's) and I can almost keep up w/ the YZF running good...

Hey try changing the size of sprocket to 38. That's what I did for mine and it made a differance big time.
