Hey guys,

Have a 2000 Cat 300 4x4.

Any of you try the Gambit Power CV boot kits (claim oem quality) $15.95 from RMATV or the American CV (claim better than oem quality) $19.95 listed on ebay and their website, which are from around Albany,NY. One good thing to add about American is they stock axles and cv's also. They are much cheaper than stock. I have always used the Cat ones but money is money. Let me know any good or bad experiences, because I am looking to possibly replace all of mine just because they are original(goin' on 7 years) except for 2 which I tore.

Grut,

I know it's been a year since you posted, but can you give me an update -- did the boots work-out OK for you?

I have a 1998 300 4x4 that needs some new boots. Please let me know what you found.

Thanks,
Eggy

Eggy,

Truthfully I got the gambit CV's just because they were cheaper than the OEM. The clamps on them are not as easy to install as the OEM because you need the CV strap pliers, but they will be tighter. I am going to be rebuilding mine within the next couple of weeks. I can let you know how it goes.
How do you like your '98 300 besides being slow?
They have some serious torque though, great work horse around my property.
I have mine fully accessorized with all the goodies I possibly wanted. My wife just laughs because I don't think I can come up with anything left to add to it.

Later,
Grut

Grut,

Thanks. I'll let you know which brand I end-up with, and how they work. Sounds like price could be a wash considering the pliers (I'm replacing only two boots).

Yes, the 300 is a nice bike. Lack of speed hasn't been an issue for me (yet... ...I've only had it a few months). It seems like is has a very wide gear range. I bought it from a relative and am working-thru some repairs. I know my nephew enjoyed it for the 10 years he owned it, using it for trails, sand dunes and even some racing.

Sounds like you have a great time with yours! Enjoy you're wife's attitude & humor about your fun! I don't think they'll ever understand.

Enjoy your rides,
Eggy
