My 650's front cylinder wont fire. I'm getting plenty of spark and the plug seems to be wet with gas when I take it out. I put it underwater a few months ago - changed the oil(a few times), cleaned the carbs, new plugs, cleaned the air filter, but ever since the front cylinder won't fire. The rear runs fine. Any ideas?

I just put my 05 650 under last weekend and it now has an off idle stumble, I think I am going to have to pull the carbs and clean them as all it takes one little pice of sand or much to block a jet or vent line. you may need to do that as well. I agree with the compression test first though as if you tried cranking it over with water in the cylinders it is possible to bend a valve or break a ring.

i have my 2004 650 v-twin in as we speak, to the dealer i bought it from with the same problem you are having. i spoke with him on monday and the last word i got from him was even the tech guys at arctic cat do not have an answer. so far he has checked and replaced the plugs, coil, cdi unit, he checked for compression and both cylinders were the same. i suggested he check the crank trigger-under the flywheel- he did that and seemed to think maybe there was a weak magnet on it. i see by your post it has been about 18 months. did you ever get the problem resolved? i have already missed turkey season i dont want to miss deer season --thanks for any help you can give

Not to discourage you but did you check the date of the post - it is almost 1.5 years old....

Good luck fixing your machine

Sammydogs64,
Can you send me the info on how to put on the "hidden Snorkels" you described. I have an 05 650 V2. I have had some issues with the machine getting swamped and that sounds like it would help.
Thanks in Advance.

just to let anyone who is interested know, i received a call from the dealer the other day telling me my 4-wheeler was done. after all the checks and tests that were performed, the reason i was having all those problems was there was a very small amount of dirt in the carb. he did not say which carb. i have not picked up the bike yet to test it out. i will be doing that this weekend. i will let you all know what the outcome is later. thanks
