Bass Pro DOES carry Arctic Cat. Now. Last weekend, at the annual Fishing Classic, they had a large display and factory rep Mark Miller was there to answer questions. The boat manager advised me they are committed to Arctic Cat and are excited about this new line for them.
I'm stilling trying to get back in touch with Mark Miller to discuss specifically when AC is coming out with EFI. He had told me in a couple of months. I'm going to wait for it to buy one.

Get the Gander Mountain credit card, but the Cat there, then you will have a LOT of points! You still get the two year warantee that is good anywhere. Be sure to pay it off in that first month, interest is bad!!
I hate to say that because I do have a good dealer I went to in MN, buy hey, money is money and I work hard for mine.

Ouch, sounds like you are a dealer who isn't happy about this setup.
First off, where I live the closest Cat dealer is 350 miles away, and there are not any roads to get there. Second, I wouldn't want to go to a dealer who does good work for people who bought his machine, and shotty work for people who bought it elsewhere. If I were to ever get on his bad side he might sabatosh (sp) my machine too.

The small guy makes the stepping-stones of our adventure a little closer and easier to traverse.
Point is, I am a small businessman, I personally had to make adjustments in my business due to the PepBoys, and Jiffy lubes in my area. I bought my Cat from a dealer, the local one.. I did call around to see what prices I could get, but still worked the deal with my local dealer. Example of dealer working for you; My Cat had a low oil light come on in 2hrs of run time on engine. I contacted my local dealer, dropped off bike, every one contacted every one, and shazam. I would say with in a couple of weeks, I am riding my bike with a fresh engine. Now tell me that would happen if I got a Wally World bike. (NOT) Oh, it would be fixed, that I am sure of. Just not as fast.
I also understand wanting to save money, but how much money stays in your neighbor hood when you buy from an outlet chain. I know they pay the people wages, and that stays local. I am sure there was a small business already doing all this before? I bet some of the sales money stayed local too as well though. Where is it going when you give it to the big guys? Does he live in your town?
Any way, every one is going to do what they want, I just felt like tossing my two cents around.
Have fun...

Bass Pro in Oklhoma City just got the Cats last week but no one there knew much about them. This is only about 3 blocks from where I work Mon. --Fri. , but I will continue to travel 120 mi. round trip to my dealer MPC, in Ada Okla. They are super guys, and I recommend them to any one.

Buy from the small guy. The small guy will meet or beat the superstore's price. The superstores price is not always that good. The small guy wants your repeat business and your friends business and the superstore does not care about that on an Arctic Cat. The superstore also wont fix your machine as well. If the superstore has a great price let the small guy know that and let him know you work hard for your money so you dont want to spend more than you have to. The small guy will always want to earn your business. If price is all that matters he will earn it that way too.

I bought from a small dealer about 60 miles from the house, ( closest one was about 45 miles ) and he gave me a good price. The great thing is I have taken it back twice on a saturday morning and they had me in and out, riding before lunch.

I have a question for you guys, how many of you who buy from "the small guy" get your tires for you car from Sam's Club????
Please don't take this the wrong way, if my dealer can match the price of Gander Mountain I would do that, but I can not afford to pay more for any item just because I like the guy who sells it. (with the exception of that crappy popcorn I have to buy from my nephew...)

If there were a small guy left, I would buy tires from him. I used to order straight from the guy next door to my shop. To many BIG Guys buy deeper, sell lower, killing the little guy. But honestly, we are not talking about tires. We are talking about a product that will require warranty work (services), and has a much higher price than a tire. Heck, most people do not even rotate there rubber..... I do what I can do for local business, like most of us try. We are all being forced every day to follow the path of least resistance. Like I said, I do what I can. P.S. this coming from a guy who still uses Cash... You know, that green stuff used to barter with...

Points all well taken. I've visited 9 dealers so far. 6 were motorcyle dealers, 2 had AC's but they mainly sold tractors, and the last sold AC's from a gargage and trailer. The first thing I looked at was the condition of the showroom and how the demo bikes look. Some of demo's I saw were new but all beat up. I also took a look at the service area to see how it was ran. A couple of these places had dirt driveways and the shop had dust everywhere. If it came down to it I would spend the extra $$$ if thought I could get better service. I've narrowed my choices down to 2 dealers. One is within 10 miles of me the other about 40. Mr 40 has already given me the lowest price I could find so far. If Mr 10 wants my business he better get with the program

FrozenFeline Makes an excellent point here. If a dealer cannot provide you quality service after the sale, they have no busness selling you any product that would require that type of service.

I would still go with the small guy unless it was just a great deal of money more. I have to work out of town most of the time. It is usually hard to get any kind of service on saturday. I have taken my 650 back twice on saturday morning and had the shims in the clutch changed to different sizes. I thought the master cylinder was gone once, and found a cut brake line when we got it on the lift. They didn't have one in stock so they pulled a 650 out of the crate and took the brake line off. Also the brake light switch behind the hand lever went out and they put one on on saturday morning. Everytime I was riding on saturday afternoon. I would not trade this kind of service for $500 savings. Plus all this didn't cost me a penny. Just my 2 cents on the subject.

A couple of points and thoughts:
Our Gander Mountain in Indianapolis has a service and parts department. They stock more accessories than any dealer I've seen, and they will sell you one that has not been on the floor if you want it.
They seem to be competitive on price as well.
Just because it is a dealer doesn't mean it is run by good ole' Uncle Henry or Small Town Bob. You don't have to look far on these forums to find a horror story about a dealer.
I bought mine from a dealer whose price was excellent and whom I knew had excellent service from others who had purchased there. Another ATV and lawn tractor later, I feel I made the right decision. Just 20 miles away is another small AC dealer who doesn't know a carburator from a wheel bearing. I'd certainly go to Gander or Bass Pro before I'd visit them.
One final note. Just because they are a big corporation doesn't mean you can't get good customer service. I bought a '93 Nitro 160 bass boat from Bass Pro in Springfield, MO. Within a week of the 5 year hull waranty expiring, I discovered two hairline cracks in the hull at the base of the transom. Thinking it was a gelcoat crack, they immediately allowed me to select a boat repair shop and paid for the fix. Unfortunately, after two trips to the lake, the cracks reappeared. They had me photograph them and send them to the engineering staff, who then had me take it to a dealer. They determined that it would be safe to finish the fishing season with it and they would fix it over the winter. They told me that it was a structural issue and that they would have to rebuild the entire transom of the boat. In late October, I took it in. Two weeks later, a Bass Pro rep called me and told me the bad news. They had discovered more serious structural defects after they had repaired the transom. The good news? They were going to give me a brand new boat. They asked when I wanted it and I told them April 1st. They delivered it to me the last week of March. It was a better boat in every way. It was bigger, and better equipped, had better performance and more features. Even the trailer was better.
You can say what you want about their customer service, but my experience with them speaks for itself. I would not hesitate to give them my business again. I never even had time to think about what was going on. They were taking care of it before I could even ask questions. Anyone want to guess where I'll buy my next boat? I sold that boat last year, after having it for 8 years or so, and it never had any problem of any kind. (My wife made me sell it so I could get ATVs!)
You guys have been listening to Democrats so much that you think all big businesses are the enemies of consumers. There are some who do it right, and some Mom and Pops who don't. It pays to do homework and research instead of making assumptions.

You are one of the lucky ones. I'm a staunch Republican. I have done some research, too late, I learned the hard way. My advise would be to at least ask around, and check the Better Business Bureau website, prior to purchasing. Maybe you will find a good guy dealer, Like Dan W. did. At least it may save you from getting burned from places like Bert's Mega Mall, Covina, CA like I did. Here is what I found about Berts Mega Mall, Covina, California, check out the link and try your dealer in a similar search prior to purchasing.

Anyone have any other ideas to help the consumer check out the dealer prior to purchase? Thanks.

That's a great idea and should be helpful to some folks around here. There's a website called Angie's List or something like that. I'm not sure if it is just a local thing around Indianapolis, or if it is a national deal, but they allow subscribers to rate and see ratings of businesses of all sorts.

Hey Lambchops. Welcome to the forums. Lots of great info available here from those who have been there and done that.
But, look at the date on the posts. The last post on the one you replied to is almost 2 years old.
Again, welcome.

Bass Pro in Las Vegas carries a fairly wide variety of Cats. I just purchased a AC650 H1.
