I am looking for a cheap 4x4 to use just for mud riding. I was thinking about the Bayou 300. Any other suggestions?

Bayous seem pretty popular, also 4trax 300s. I would say that you can't go wrong with either.... otoh I recently bought a Suzuki KQ 300 circa 1997. It has a couple valuable features that nothing else has in it's class such as a diff lock and hi low and super low ranges. Nothing more frustrating than the only wheel with any traction not moving while the other three are digging holes.

Go for an old King Quad 300. IRS, dif lock, Hi, low and super low ranges. It's slow but it's a beast. I've seen many for sale for under $2K.

The old fourtrax 300s are pretty indestructible but you really need to put a locker in the front end. They're essentially three wheel drive without one.
I have an old 300 that I'm in the process of restoring. It was my first new ATV that I ever bought. I was like 17 when I bought it. Signed the papers at the dealer, put it in the back of the truck, hauled it home and less than an hour later had it swamped so deep that only the rear fender was showing. Dragged it out, blew the water out of it's guts and I was good to go. It wouldn't be the last time. Heck, it wasn't the last time that day. Had more fun on that machine than any other I've ever owned.
Before I put it all back together It is getting a locker. Should be quite the little submarine with a locker and some good mud tires.

King Quad 300s have IRS as well, they were pretty advanced for their time, they first came out in 1991 I've finally got to try the one I bought, it's amazing what it will crawl over in 4-lock, super low.

you might consider posting this in the "Buying an ATV" sub forum.
