i used one all summer. So far so good. its been totally submerged a few times and works like a champ every time. Price is definately right. Which ever you choose - recommend applying liquid electrical tape to all connections - this stuff works great.

The general consensus here seems to be that Venom winches are very good winches as long as you take them apart and replace the grease with a high quality grease.

I'm with Kurt on this one. I have had my for a year and a half, no problems. Got it off of ebay, came with everything the seller said it would. Simple install and amen on the liquid electrical tape. RSeb, sounds like a good idea to break it down and at least check it out.

I'm curious how much the Venom winches cost. I've never owned one because I always get the Warn winch for $69 whenever I buy a new Yamaha. Buying a Warn without the Yamaha promotion could be expensive though.

Venom and Xtreme wenches are exactly the same and sold by the same company. I have a Xtreme winch.

Thats a good price for a winch ($79). Wonder if it has lead based paint on it? Just kidding, LOL.

Ive had a venom 2500 XT for a couple years, took it apart and put Amsoil grease in it, works perfect every time.
