I have a new 07 450 King Quad. I am looking for a better set of tires. I running stockers right now.

I mainly trail and mude ride. I don't get to crazy in the mud. We mainly ride in a creek.

I am looking for something that also rides well on the road, because we have to ride on the rode a bit getting in and out of the trail.

I am not sure if I want to step up to 26's or stay and 25's.

I was thinking about the following tires.

Maxxis Mud bugs
Kenda Bounty Hunters
ITP mud lites

Any other recommendations would be great.

i would recommend keeping your torque by staying with the stock size. I put on a pair of superlites from supergrip and happy so far (just a few weeks)...they are almost identical as mudlites - but have a tougher rubber compound and a rim guard. You may want to try out the bear claws - been around awhile and proven tough. if your looking for more height in the stock size - check out the swamplite (not sure how they wear?). if you want to see specs on the superlites...check out my post in the tire section

When I had a Kodiak 450 I went with 26" Swamplites (I now have them on my Rubicon). I gained 1" plus of ground clearance plus they are a good mud tire but not the MOST aggressive. jsills, the mud lites are very aggressive and wear very well, a friend has some on his sp 500 ho, not the tire for blacktop use, if you go larger than stock you could notice a loss in power and additional wear on your drivetrain. just my 0.02$. ride on bro.

i recommend the new carlisle mud wolf tires. They perform exellent in mud with 1+in. lugs and side bitters. They are also a very smooth riding trial tire. The tires are 6 ply and range in sizes from 25 tall to 27.

Going from a 25" to a 26" tire is only going to give you 1/2" more ground clearance. I personally wouldn't go larger than stock unless it was gonna get me at least an inch or two more clearance, which would mean going to at least a 27" tire. However, I'd rather have power than ground clearance where I ride.

Though that's true in theory, it's not always the case. Most stock 25" tires measure 24" (or less). If you get an aftermarket tire that measures true (like the Swamplites and a few others) you actually will gain 1" plus. Using a level and parking your ATV on a level surface, measure from the floor to the top of your tire (using the level). That is the true heighth. If it is 24" or less, I'd go to the 26" tires. You shouldn't loss much power and if you do, you can get it back quickly with a clutch kit. I've haerd good things about the Mudbugs but after having Mudlites, I wouldn't recommend them.

Not all tires measure their actual dimension. For example, I purchased a set of 25-10-12 mud lites and with 5 lbs they only measured 24-1/4'' before mounting. I measured them at the knobs with two framing squares. I also just purchased a set of Carlisle badland AR 26-10-12 , 6ply and they measure 25-3/8'' the same as my original stock 25'' tires. The difference I found between the stock 3 ply and the 26" badland radial is that I have to use less air pressure 3 lbs front and 3-1/2 rear to obtain a comfortable ride. Dont forget for any mod you make you gain something and loose something

Dude... I had the bear claws on my other bike and love them!!! They wore well and had some real cool lookin' lugs!!! The price point is in the "Bang for the buck" category! This time around I opted for the XTR's... only cause my buddies all have the regular mud lites and I find the middle tread wears out very quickly. I have 1700 Kms on my radials and they still look new!!! Worth the extra cash!!! Two thubms up EH?!
