You bought a Brute Force for top speed reasons?

It doesn't matter how fast you go as long as you are faster than the guys you ride with! I just thought I should be faster than a 650 Prarie and at least as fast as a 700 Prarie. I'm only barely faster than the 650 and equal to the 700.

I aggree with you, I was just curious about your wording in your original post about wanting to see why you bought this thing. I understand now, I would expect to be faster myself. I picked up mine a month ago, and I am at 15 hours. I have only had it up to about 62, but it felt like I had plenty more. I dropped it in a pond last week so now I am trying to baby it for a while to get all of the crap worked out of the engine, which hopefully I already have flushed out. You definitely should be faster that what you are running. I am not suprised that Kaw said that, sounds like a normal huge corporation that handles the occasional complaint. I would imagine that your best bet is to post on the Kaw forum, and ask some of the guys that have had their machine tore down to the frame. They should have the best idea of what you should be running, and what you could do to help it. When I finish the babying of mine I will put the hammer down and let you know what I ran. Good luck.

I'll be waiting for your response. I assume you will be running about what everyone else is though. ( 68 mph-72 mph) I think I just got a dog. It runs ok but it just does not have any top end.

Dont be satisfied with "just having a dog." Knock on some doors and see what you can turn up. Try a different dealer or mechanic. There are thousands of guys on here, someone should be able to help. You payed good money for that machine and it should step up. I will keep my ears open for you and let you know when I run my own. Good luck.

Do you really want to be faster? Call up Mickey Dunlap at Four Stroke Tech in Pa. as he has alot of experiance in Kawi V twins and makes them scream! Also, he is knowledgable about good suspension set ups for the fast Utes.

i think iv owned a couple factory turds myself...lol.i first bought a 04 700 prarie, and on straight roads i could only get 64mph.then i got a 06 brute 750 and returned it to the dealer cuz i hated the way it handled, and i also could only get 65-66 out of that,so i just asked for another 06 700 prarie(i love the straight axles).i put 1,600 miles on it since late 06,and that thing wouldnt go over 64 either.my buddy got a brute 650 and smokes me...69mph steady everytime.i sold the prarie a month ago and im in the air on 08 brute,or 08 KQ??OR EVEN 08 650 BRUTE(I THINK THEY LET THE CLUTCH ENGAGE A BIT MORE CUZ THE SMALLER CC).Although i really like handeling and acceleration more than top speed,i find myself pinned alot down the road wide open, and i love it.iv heard the new 750 brute has a much improved susp.set up,efi, and a few other small dodads,so im leaning that direction,as i cant find a final word on the 750 KQ's performance.from what iv gathered its not that much of a difference from last year, although im still waiting to hear different. i wonder if just killin em from day 1 without much of a break in time restricts the performance(top end speed) or whatever in the long run??as thats what iv done quite a bit in the past.i realize 2 strokes u cant....but 4's??iv never had any noticeable troubles wackin the throttle wide open fresh from the crate....im getting one this week,so any imput would appreciated 585-944-6717

you have more variable in the CVT than the engine. Clutching is an art and the factory isn't into masterpieces. One set up fits all for them. Most snowmobile tuners will tell you that is just wrong. Fine clutch calibration is up to you. If your engine is running right (jetted right, good compression), most of your gains can be made with the CVT. One of the pitfalls of a belt drive.

My 05 BF topped out at 62mph. No complaints here. I ride trails with my quad, not commute to work.

i just dont get why 650 brutes are just as fast as 750's and faster than 700 praries.
......and if my brute topped out 62mph id be slightly bent...but thats just me.

What a dog. Top speed on gravel road was 62 mph and top speed on blacktop was 64 mph.
I complained to the dealer and they were also surprised. They had been telling everyone that bought this machine that they could expect 70-75 mph.(Which is consistant with published reports I've seen.)
I called Kawasaki Management and they were satisfied with that performance.
Does anyone think that the carb modifications for the 2006 models to allow for better starting hurts the performance?
I would love to hear actual digital speedo readings from other 2005 and 2006 750 Brute Force riders.
Thanks in advance ,

why would anybody want to go that fast on a atv, thats all you hear on this forum, how to make this faster, pay 7,000 for an atv ,go home and start tearing it apart trying to make it go even faster, utility atvs are made to ride in the woods, and to do work with,if you want to go 80mph,get you sport atv,you know one of those that have them harley davison mufflers on them, that tear all the trails up,and aggravate everybody,go figure............

I top out at 71-72 with the same motor. And of course your going t beat a BF with a warrior, not because of top speed, but because you get there faster. If you want to ride something fast, get what i have. A 2006 GSXR750. Its in my pics. 172 mph. doing 0-60 in around 3 seconds is breath taking, and scary. I have that thing modded also, and its a rush. But thats what its made for. Take your BF out, put a dynatek cdi box on it, some after market tires, and ride through some rough trails and mud and have fun. No need to race it.

Well in my opinion your narrow minded. around here there are alot of fire roads that its nice to be able to cruise doing 40,50 and the odd time hitting 60 mph with out revving the heck out of it. Whats the fun of going 20 mph on the 20 foot wide gravel road? Also there are alot of rocky, muddy technical trails where you wouldnt dare take a sport bike. Thats why i want to go that fast on an atv.

I have the '06 650i, from new i just gradually drove it faster and faster, but never a standing start WOT run. I eased it up to 67 when it was still real new with girlfriend on board. Later after i felt safe with break in i hit a smooth 70mph reading on the speedo. When it was new it would pull the front end off the ground on takeoff, now shes out of tune and it wont.

I felt like mine also had more wheelie ability when I first got it. What do you mean by out of tune? What happens and how can it be fixed?

it's most likely the clutches or belt wearing. I can make just about any belt driven machine wheelie by clutching alone. guys that clutch are also the ones winning drag races and pulls

I've done 65mph on a desert stretch, but 98% of the time will never get above 30mph.
