This is part of a nationwide Access Travel Management plan which will deny you and your friends the use of public lands for anything that does not meet the approval and have the blessing of the USFS and the Department of Ag. You better prepare for the other shoe to drop............The Wallowa Whitman National Forest is closing over 5000 miles of access roads and trails in the name of "preventing the destruction of our forests". While they set back and let it rot and burn and blow down and be eaten by insects...........Arrogance and ignorance in action.............Tass

I would wonder if anyone but you even cares its closed......Is there someone I can send a message to? Is there a movement to get it opened back up? Has anyone checked to see if all the processes have been followed correctly? Has anyone appealed the decision? I am from Oregon but as a US Citizen I have the right and responsibility to act on anything relating to government management of public lands. It is the same tool the environmental idiots have been using for years. Tie the SOB up in court......file an appeal..............Tass

Tass.........I am also in Oregon. Central. 2009 all pubic lands have to have a motorized vechle plan. The law is now, you can ride any where but where they tell you can't. Changing to can't ride anywhere but where they tell you can! All hunters that use there 4x4's to reclaim elk and deer. Your screwed.
This is a law Bill Clinton pushed for and Bush has not changed. Posting will be in your news paper on USFS And Blm meeting coming up. Be there or loose it forever.

Same thing happened in my neck of the woods. One of my favorite places to ride, the Ottawa National Forest in Michigan's U.P., was essentially closed by the USFS. This time last year, the land was open unless posted closed. Now it is closed unless posted open. It's gone and probably won't ever be back. Mother nature giveth, USFS taketh away...

Who have you people faxed, email, called, wrote letters to? Just send a email to a congressman. If everyone did that maybe things would be different.

The USFS held several meetings about the planned changes to the Ottawa NF last year, and several local atv clubs attended. I spoke with the president of one of the atv clubs in attendance, and he said the USFS steam-rolled them. He said it was more of a lecture on the part of the USFS than a discussion. I live 5 hours away in another state and was unable to attend due to work (that's my rather pitiful excuse). The USFS said there was the possibility of land being available for atv use sometime in the future, which easily translates to "don't hold your breath".
