Hi there!
Tis the season to be jolly...
And to be stupid too...
What's your view on firecrackers?
I'm not talking planned pyro stuff, but this stuff bought over or under the counter.
I'm of the opinion, you wouldn't burn your cash,so why endanger the lives of pets, children, nature & yourself for pitiful "pleasure".
GROW UP!!!
What of the child labour used in manufacture thereof?Poor remuneration, safety, long hours...
Impact on environment?Greenhouse effect of burnt sulphur?Litter of spent crackers on beaches & forests.(fire hazards)
Everybody has this high moral view of owning a fuel efficient car, environmentally friendly processes and yet frighten the SHT out of the animals.
Does anyone know that a dog's hearing is at least ten times more acute than the average person?
Pull your finger from your nose, reply to this thread and get the word spread.
BAN
FIREWORKS!!!
GLOBALLY!!!
NOW!!!
Donate that money to animal welfare...Let's see if you got the gonads to help others.
The satisfaction you glean from helping others, will exceed the petty "pleasure".
Lastly, your children learn from you. What example do you set?
THINK CAREFULLY!!!!
PS :
If you're not offended by this posting, the message was not intended for you.
Peace out.
Benjamin.

Just as I thought.
Replies from people who can't spell, says something of I.Q...Or is that ID? Intelligence Defeciency.
Anyway, here where I live, there is no tie to your July 4th celebration. Why should we be subjected to your traditions?
Bad enough that we have to be subjected to your $ as benchmark for currency exchange.
Yet, when you guy's have a "recession" (political or otherwise), our currency also drops.
Maybe arrogant energy should be turned into positive energy.
Just ask, I've a few to help you...
Anger management is a good start...
Merry X-Mas.

Where I live, we celebrate the 4th of July, proudly.

No, No, No, No, benjaminjones is right. We should all just go back to shooting our guns in the air to celebrate, like the good ole wild west days. Works for a lot of other countries, why not the US too. Dude, sorry about your anti-american feelings, but I don't think your rant will ever go over well with the general off road crowd here, lol.

Hi...again...
I need to apologize profusely.
It was not my intention to be anti-American or show disregard for your culture or traditions.
My intention was to stimulate discussion regarding fireworks.
With new year's bashes being imminent, and all the foolishness being entertained, I thought it good for the discussion thereof.
Needless to say, there will always be a market for contraband and such if we in the world do not wake up.
It's more about looking after nature and natural resources for the generations hereafter.
Being conscientious of buying a frugal car instead of a huge gas-guzzler. Just think of how much less we will be dependant on the oil producing countries.
Not to mention lower environmental impact, recycling efficiency and saving cash to buy more toys.....
Chew on that for a start.
My plight regarding firecrackers is not being a kill-joy. Re-read my initial posting and you'll see my concern regarding nature, animals & such.
Do something good for once, you'll get it all back, exponentially.
Cheers!
Benjamin.

I say light off fireworks by sticking them in dogs' ears.

You would think that you'd have more important things to worry about in South Africa than fireworks.

This country has used fireworks to celebrate many different occasions for hundreds of years. I don't know of all your country's problems, benjamin, but here we have bigger problems to worry about, and if fireworks can bring a smile on someone's face, then I say "LIGHT 'EM!"

Actually, more people are hurt or killed here by drunken driving on any one given day than fireworks. I can't quote any hard numbers, but you might read locally of one or two fireworks injuries around Independance day. The rest of the year is much more sporadic than even that. Why not come out against drinking and driving? If we all stopped drinking, there would be even less environmental impact than the fireworks we use to boot. As far as the animals are concerned, fireworks aren't as loud as or as numerous as thunderstorms. Of course some domesticated animals are afraid, but most wild animals aren't flipping out over a T-storm.

benjaminjones, thanks for voicing your concerns. I guess I really don't see how our holidays and traditions have any effect on your country. I think you should reread your second post, you obviously have some anger/resentment issues. Maybe you could take your own advice on the anger management? Oh, and I think your leaping Great Whites rule! I love that footage on Animal Planet and Discovery Channel!

Go back to your PETA meeting. This joker is just trying to get something started. If it gets too crazy, I'll make a bottle rocket that will launch the neighbors cat to South Africa so he can take care of it. And as far as supposed greenhouse gases...I'm guessing you have never driven anywhere unless it was absolutely necessary and the shortest distance. My bad. I meant to speak of littering by riding your crooked tire bike and leaving fake rubber on the road. Oops, I don't think the rubber will rub off in sand. Mmm, using too much soap while bathing in the creek? Probably don't bathe. Actually you don't have to. My feline carrying rocket will clear the stink right off of you.
PS. No slang and all words spelled correctly

ben - Your postings clearly show you are ignorant and anti-American. You claim that you wish to discuss this issue, yet at the same time say "If you're not offended by this posting, the message was not intended for you". Yeah, that will encourage open discussion.

Your comment "Do something good for once" clearly shows that you believe Americans don't do any good in the world. Funny how you would choose a media (the internet) that was designed, built, and owned by Americans to attack us.

By the way, I'll be flying into Jo-berg in late August. I'll be happy to let you buy me a beer and apologize to me for being a jackass.

Wow this was a stupid one.
Dude stay in Africa, we dont say stuff you do there is stupid and wasteful. The fourwheelers that are run everyday around the world put more chemicals into the air.

Do you ride? If you do why dont you stop and save the earth from the emissions that your creating everytime you fire it up. I am sure that it puts more chemicals into the air every year than the fireworks that any one family shoots off on one day.

Get a life and go ride and quit worrying about it.

Thought this thread died a slow death long time ago!

I buy 4 pallets stacked 6 feet high of fireworks per year. Love lighting every one of them. Our whole family gets involved. Last few years, the neighbors even started showing up with food to share. I've had quite a few vehicles stop along the road during the shows. We do 3 shows over 3 nights.

So my answer to "FIREWORKS....what's YOUR view?", is "from underneath with a torch in my hand!"

Now there is a man that loves his fireworks!!!!!

Here in SoCal we are treated to some very impressive shows every year. If you have a boat and can get out on the water, you can see several shows all at once!!!! A couple years ago we where off of Dana Point, and could see seven different shows all at the same time.
