Im looking to get something to support my ankles while riding. The tall boots look uncomfortable but I have never worn them. I only ride atv's and would probably take them off between rides unless they were really comfortable. The low style boots get good reviews on rocky mountain.
Thanks
Ed

I used to wear a tall boot but I broke my ankle and have not been able to find a tall boot that is comfortable to wear. I now wear the Thor 50/50 boot and love it. It is the half boot. If you are an aggressive rider, I think the taller boot is probably a little safer though.
ps: If you do a search back, I know this topic has come up many times...FYI

I want all the protection I can get....anywhere and everywhere I can get it....so I am sticking with the tall boots and knee pads!!!
For high speed desert cross country riding I wear Alpinestar's Tech 6. This is a nice "in between" boot....it has lots of foot, ankle, and lower leg support, yet they aren't big and heavy either!
For technical trails where I will be riding a utility and may be off he quad walking around a lot, I wear the Alpinestars Tech 4. It is lighter and more flexible than the Tech 6, and has a waffle sole for better traction.
If I were doing more high risk riding like jumping or racing, I would wear the Tech 8 or 10.

Thanks Ill do a search. I dont jump or anything so Ill probably go with a half boot, but I do see the point of the full one. I should probably go to a local store and try some on. Alot of people gave the Thor 50/50 boot great reviews.

Have you seen the 3/4 boots by Fly?
Check out the Fly Racing Stinger "shorty" ATV boot....... they are not full size (4 buckle) and they are not a 50/50..... they are a unique 3-buckle 3/4 boot that give you all the protection of a big boot for the ankle and the comfort of a 50/50 boot....
I have full size MSR MX boots, and I have full size Thor Quadrant ATV boots,.... but I wear the Fly Stinger's 90% of the time.... they are not too expensive (around $89) and they are pretty tough and comfortable. I am highly impressed with mine.
I wish more companies would jump on this 3/4 (3 buckle) bandwagon since IMO they are perfect for ATVs. I've never been a big fan of the 50/50 since they leave a lot of exposed skin, and the full size can be cumbersome on an ATV on long woods rides.....

I would be shocked if they did ......
But FWIW.... I wear a size 9 in everything (Nike sneakers fit perfect) and I ordered the Fly boots in 9 and they fit very well..... they are not small, they are roomy but not big..... I think they are sized fairly well...
One upgrade I would say they need is a better foot-bed insert, I upgraded mine with a nice sports one from Dr. Scholls which made a huge difference....
